HLTAID012 Online
The HLTAID012 Online (HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting) unit covers the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.
The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
It is an industry requirement that First Aid certification is required to be updated or renewed every 3 years, in any situation where you have a duty of care for your clients.
The First Aid online refresher course is advised for those who have previously been First Aid trained and qualifiedit is not advised for those completing first aid for the first time.
The First Aid Oz HLTAID012 online First Aid courses requires students to
- view instructional First Aid & CPR videos,
- read learning materials
- complete a theory assessment quiz,
- complete a practical assessment & submit video
For those who choose the HLTAID012 First Aid online option, it is preferred that you have access to a Mannikin so that you are able to simulate CPR, and/or another person to act as casualty for bandaging and other tasks, so please select your course option carefully.
There are no refunds once online course materials are made available.
Where videos are submitted during regular business hours, we guarantee same day First Aid certification.

Face to face classes are always the preferred and recommended option for First Aid training and assessment.
Additionally, for the HLTAID012 First Aid online, you will require a well stocked first aid kit to enable you to complete all practical tasks. You can buy a first aid kit from First Aid Oz if you don’t possess one.

In this course the student will learn how to :
1. Respond to an emergency situation
Recognise and assess an emergency situation.
Ensure safety for self, bystanders and casualty.
Assess the casualty and recognise the need for first aid response.
Seek assistance from emergency services.
2. Apply appropriate first aid procedures
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance ARC guidelines.
Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles.
Display respectful behaviour towards casualty.
Obtain consent from casualty where possible.
Use available resources and equipment to make the casualty as comfortable as possible.
Operate first aid equipment according to manufacturers’ instructions.
Monitor the casualty’s condition and respond in accordance with first aid principles.
3. Communicate details of the incident
Accurately convey incident details to emergency services.
Report details of incident in line with appropriate workplace or site procedures.
Complete applicable workplace or site documentation, including incident report form.
Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information in line with statutory or organisational policies.
4. Evaluate the incident
Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers and seek help when required.
Contribute to a review of the first aid response as required.
